고체(Powder, Bulk Solid)의 비표면적, 기공의 분포도 및 기공 Volume을 분석하는 장치로 고체의 표면에 온도 및 압력을 변화시켜 표면에 물리적으로 흡착하는(물리흡착) 기체(질소가스, 알곤가스…)의 분자 개수를 BET(Brunaur, Emutte, Teller) 또는 Langmuir공식을 이용하여 계산해 내며, 이를 근거로 시료의 비표면적을 측정하며, 또한 BJH공식에 근거하여 시료의 미세기공(5Å~3000Å)의 분포 등을 구하는 장치이다. 이는 장치에 인입된 질소가스를 액화질소(-198℃)의 온도로 시료에 만들어 주고, 이 온도에서 압력(0~950mmHg) 변화에 따른 수십 개의 각각의 점에서 시료에 흡착된 흡착량을 기록한다. 각각의 점에서 흡착된 양을 PC에 입력하여 기공의 분포도를 얻는다. 이를 기초 데이터로 하여 H-K, MP, DR등의 공식에 응용 PC로 출력한다.
